The Dundee Collection was established in 2018 during the opening of the V&A Dundee and new pieces continue to be added. The geometric shapes of Kengo Kuma’s architecture and the way it represented it's inspiration, the Arbroath cliffs, really spoke to Islay and her own fascination with abstracting organic forms and finding geometric structures in landscapes. Islay had been playing about with stripy triangle motifs in her drawings and makings, joining them together to create patterns and compositions and the building of the V&A was the perfect excuse to launch them in celebration of her hometown.
